Mapping of Total Lime Using Remote Sensing and GIS Technology, Case Study: Garmian District, Kurdistan Region-Iraq

Calcium carbonate, lime, is a major component of the regolith, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Lime affects soil characteristics, substantial store earthly carbon, used mineral investigation. Total lime functioning cultivation carbonate it formed when calcium ions hard water interact with to make limescale. Remote Sensing (RS) data techniques integrated Geographical Information System (GIS) play an important prominent role studying properties how they are distributed by introducing proportions concentrations chemical elements into GIS programs then mapping density these linking them spatially study area, thus spatial analysis elements. The aims map distribution lime- rich regions utilizing remote sensing geographical information system field observations Garmian region, Sulaimaniyah Province, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. 80 well-distributed samples were tested precisely laboratory. Twelve as training classification, rest for checking accuracy produced maps. results also showed that Maximum likelihood classification reliable method can be on Landsat images extract viable predict attendance lime-rich It clear amounts increase towards area south because parent material limestone sandstone, which low rates rainfall not sufficient dissolve wash from section.
